Paraguay Soccer is the most popular sports in Paraguay. William Paats, from Netherlands first introduced the
Paraguay soccer to the inhabitants of Paraguay. Initially, the soccer in Paraguay was only confined within the elite class but very quickly it became popular among all classes.
A small tournament of Paraguay football took place at Plaza de Armas in Asuncion in 1900, which drew huge crowd. The success of the first match inspired William Paats to form the first football club of Paraguay. Thus Olimpia Football club, which was renamed to Club Olimpia was formed in 1902. The number football clubs escalated over the years. In 1906, governing body of football in Paraguay, the Paraguayan Football Association was established. The Paraguayan Football Association joined CONMEBOL in 1921 and FIFA in 1925.
