The
Paraguay indigenous art is a matter of pride for the people of the country. The archaeologists have unearthed many artistic works of Paraguay in the 20th century. The works of
Paraguay indigenous art continue to be produced in the rural sectors of Paraguay by the indigenous people like the Guarani. Though these works are basically handicraft items, their excellence in art cannot be understated. These forms of the indigenous art of Paraguay have even influenced the artists of Europe.
The Paraguayan indigenous artworks are largely exported in the foreign markets. These artworks have captured the hearts of every aesthetic person all across the globe. The ornaments of feather stand out as one of the specimens of these art works. Out of colorful feather, is woven the beautiful 'jeguaka' or headdress. The cloaks are even made of magnificent feathers. These art creations from feather are till date worn in the special ceremonies of the ethnic groups of Paraguay.
The basketwork of these indigenous people also displays the artistic excellence. The baskets and bags, made by ornate weaving continue to be a piece of art as well as an item of utility. The items, that are mainly used for basketwork include the pindo palm, tacuarembo and caraguata.
The ceramics and wood carvings are also renowned for their excellent display of the indigenous art in Paraguay.
