David, the third largest city and the fastest-growing regions in the country, is the capital of Chiriquí Province, in western Panama. It is a relatively affluent city with a firmly established, dominant middle class and a very low unemployment and poverty index.


David is the third largest city among the Panama cities and is situated on a coastal plain. In the Spanish language, David city is known as La Ciudad de David and is the capital of the Chiriqui province. The city is also the principal commercial hub for the Chiriqui people. The principal economy of David is farming and cattle rearing. The city is inhabited by 102, 678 people, according to 1990 estimates.

David is an important tourist destination among the other Chiriqui destinations. David city of Panama is located at a distance of 45 minutes from Paso Canoas. The city borders with Costa Rica and is a gateway to Bocas del Toro.

The principal economy of the city is cattle raising. Besides sugar, coffee, cocoa, and tropical fruits are also produced in this city. The city is a flourishing hub of the farming industry. David city also has some attractions. There are also some hotels and resorts in David in order to accommodate the visitors. There is a central park at the center of the town. The park is decorated with shady bushes and trees acting as the perfect resting place for the peddlers and also for the visitors who like to spend some time with nature. Another event is the industrial fair known as the Internacional de David, acting as the platform for international companies to exhibit their products and services. A special event like Children’s day is celebrated every year on the 16th of July.

Like other cities in Panama, David also has much to offer. Therefore it is also worth visiting.
