Cristobal City Guide



Cristobal is the port city bordering the city of Colon. It is also the Atlantic terminal port of Panama. Both the Panama cities were named after the great adventurer Christopher Columbus. Cristobal was named from Christopher and Colon was named after Columbus. The city is a narrow strip of land joining the Manzanillo Island with the mainland. In the year 1914, Cristobal city was accepted as the port city for exchange of goods.

The city has a tropical maritime climate as it is situated near the sea. January to March are the driest months sometimes experiencing heavy showers. April to December are the monsoon months with humidity. Spanish and English are the languages spoken by the people of Cristobal. Cristobal Pier is the main docking place for the ships.

Education and Economy

Like other cities in Panama, Cristobal is also dedicated in training its youth through quality education. The main attraction in this city is the Panama Canal. There are ways to visit the canal. One can go by the ship enjoying the scenic beauty of the azure waters and nature, or can prefer to ride by train. Besides visitors can also go by a motor coach to tour the canal. Gatun Locks and the rain forests are also other attractions of the Cristobal city of Panama.
