Chitre in Panama with a population of 102,465 people, is one of the popular cities in Panama. Chitre Panama was founded on 19th of October in the year 1848 and is situated in the province of Herrera. Covering an area of about 2340 square kilometers, Chitre of Panama is the commercial hub for the central provinces of the country.

Panama City is about 93 miles and San Miguel is about 120 miles from Chitre. The other nearby cities are Santiago, Balboa and Vacamonte. The inhabitants of Chitre use Balboa as well as US dollars as their currency. The national languages are Spanish and English. However Spanish is used as the official language. Residents of Chitre are known as Panamanians.
