It was in the year of 1968 that the
Constitution of Palestine was adopted. The Chairman of the Committee of the Palestine Constitution is Dr. Nabeel Ali Shaath. The other members of the committee of the
Constitution of Palestine are as follows:

- Mahmud El Ajrami
- Prof. Ahmad Mebarak al-Khalidi
- Dr. Ali Khashhan
- Dr. Kamal El Astal

- Dr. Ahmad Abu Halabeyyeh
The first draft of the Palestinian Constitution was published in the month of February in 2001. The third draft of the Constitution in Palestine was formed after amendment of the first and second draft of the Constitution. The following has been laid down in the Constitution of Palestine:
- Palestine is a sovereign, independent republic.
- It is a part of the Arab nation.
- It condemns terror, occupation and aggression.
- Jerusalem is the seat of Palestine's public authorities.
- Arabic is the official language and religion of Palestine.
- The flag, seals, national anthem and emblems of Palestine shall be determined by the law.
- All Palestinians are equal before the law.
- Any person attaining the age of 18 years has got the right to vote, etc.
