Bethlehem University or more popularly known as Bethlehem University of the Holy Land is a Catholic Christian co-educational institution for higher learning in Palestine. This university was founded in 1973 following the Lasallian tradition. This institution is open to students of all religions.
Bethlehem University is the first university founded in the West Bank. It is said that De La Salle Christian Brothers opened schools in Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Nazareth, Jaffa, Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt. This university is said to be dating back to that era. The University of Bethlehem first started with 112 students and in September 2006, an enrollment of 2,599 students. This university has produced more than 10,034 graduates across 33 years. Special linguistic programmes of Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Ramallah and Amman, Jordan are offered in this university.
Subjects in Bethlehem University are numerous. A degree called Baccalaureate degree is offered in Accounting, Chemistry, Arabic, Biology, Business Administration, Classroom Education, Occupational Therapy, English, Mathematics, Nursing, Physics, Physiotherapy, Sociology, Pre-School Education, Social Work, Subject Area Education and Religious Studies is offered. Diploma degrees are honoured for Hotel Management, Tour Guiding, Midwifery, Secondary Education, Religious Education, Tourism for Peace and Travel Agency Management.
Bethlehem University belongs to the Palestinian Council for Higher Education. Bethlehem University holds memberships in the Lasallian Association of Colleges and Universities, International Federation of Catholic Universities and the International Association of Universities.
