Al Azhar University in Gaza



Al-Azhar University in Gaza was founded in 1991. Among the Palestinian Universities, this university occupies a prominent place. Al-Azhar University caters to the higher education in Palestine.

In the present days, this university is one of the largest Palestinian Universities. The academic staff of this university counts more than 209 members and the student population is around 11519. There are 8 faculties in Al-Azhar University, namely Science, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Medical Professions, Education, Arts, Law, Economics and Administrative Sciences.

The department, which is recently incorporated in the University of Al-Azhar is the Desalination and Related Fields. This department was established on May 1995 and earned immense popularity among the researchers and students of Palestine. The water research center is an independent non-government Palestinian institution in Gaza. Other than this department, there are the usual vocational faculties like Development and D Center, Quality Control Unit, The Information Technology Unit, The Center for Analysis and Food Control and Scientific Center for Pharmaceutical Research and analysis.

The students of the University of Al-Azhar is also related to some social welfare programmes. The teachers not only help the students with the academic lessons but also encourages for practical lessons. The curriculum of Al-Azhar University in Gaza is designed into such patterns that shall help the students to compete with the global education level.
