Cement Industry in Palestine is supposed to be one of the major industries in Palestine. The Cement Industry in Palestine is measured to be very vital as there is a very high demand of cement due to the construction stage at Palestine.
There is very much need of cement in Palestine and to satisfy that the local companies were expected to be able to provide adequate cement. This was one of the reasons that the cement industry of Palestine has grown so much in Palestine. The gross demand for cement in Palestine was between 1.6to 1.7 million tons in the year 1997. According to the Palestinian Commercial Services Company there was a yearly increase of 11 percent in the demand of cement at Palestine.
It had also been assumed that by the year 2003 the demand for cement in Palestine would reach 3 million tons. When Israel had occupied West Bank and Gaza in the year 1967 there was an extensive control on the cement industry which was composed by a company of Israel known as the "Nesher Company".
The Plaestinian Company for Cement Marketing estimated the volume of Palestinian market for the year 1996 at 1.3 to1.5 million tons, out of which 600 tons were from the West Bank. The first experiment to start a cement industry at Palestine was before the year 1948 when a company of Palestine at Nablus. However the endeavor that was undertaken proved to be unsuccessful.
