Athletics in Pakistan

Athletics in Pakistan have been practiced over the years. Athletics tournaments in Pakistan are mainly organized by Pakistan's Athletics Federation. The Pakistani Athletes takes part in all the major international and national events. The athletes from all over the country participate and throw strong challenges before their contenders. The Pakistani athletes showed great performances in the tournaments that were organized both on a domestic and international levels.

Pakistan has contested in the Summer Olympics in the field of athletics. In Asian Games Pakistan has showed good performances. The most famous athlete of all times in Pakistan was late Muhammad Younis.

Athletics in Pakistan has shown significant growth over the years. Some of the notable athletes of the country are Muhammad Talib, Ghulam Raziq, Abid Hussain, Miss Shabana Akhtar, Mubarak Shah, Muhammad Younis, Ali Kamani, and John Permal. Muhammad Younis was an outstanding athlete of Pakistan. He had played for his country in more than 13 international and national competitions and had won fourteen gold medals in his career. In the year 1971 he received six gold medals in 1500 and 800 meters. In the Asian Games of 1970, in 1500 meters he gained a silver medal.

Gulam Noorani Khan was another notable athlete of Pakistan. In 1974 he came in the National athletic scenario. In hammer throw he became the National Winner. Till the year 1981 he held back the title of a National Winner in Hammer throw.
