The 2014 Winter Olympic Games will be held in Sochi, a city located in the federal subject of Krasnodar Krai in Russia, from 7th to 23rd February, 2014. These will be the XXII Olympic Winter Games. Sochi is located near the international border between Russia and Georgia, on Russia's coast along the Black Sea. The 22nd Winter Olympics will be followed by the Winter Paralympics in Sochi.

The Sochi Winter Olympics will be the first Olmpic games organized in Russia since the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, during the days of the erstwhile Soviet Union. Sochi was chosen as the host city at the 119th International Olympic Committee Session held on 4 July 2007 in Guatemala City.

A total of 98 events will be held across 15 different winter sports at the newly built Sochi Olympic Park and the nearby ski resort of Krasnaya Polyana. As many as 88 nations have qualified at least one athlete and many winter sports enthusiasts and sports journalists are expected to travel to Sochi from around the world to watch this festival of sporting excellence.

The opening ceremony of the Sochi Winter Olympics will be held on the 7th of February 2014, while the closing ceremony will take place on the 23rd of February 2014.

There will be 15 winter sports in the 2014 Winter Olympics, for which 88 nations will be competing across 98 events. The events are as follows:
