Beijing Summer Games – Transportation Plan comprises various phases of development. Beijing, the host city of the Summer Games, is taking measures to meet the increasing traffic needs. The existing infrastructure needs to be improved in order to manage the heavy traffic generated by the Olympics. Extra security measures are also needed.
Beijing Summer Games – transportation plan includes the major expansion of the subway system of Beijing. This expansion would double the existing capacity. Seven lines would be added other than the existing 4 lines. One of the lines would directly connect the Beijing Capital International Airport. The system has 64 stations at present. The Beijing Summer Games transport plan shows that eleven unmanned trains with the capacity of accommodating 83 passengers would be introduced. Emergency alert system would be implemented in the airport in order to warn people about extreme weather and security threats.
As part of Beijing Olympics transport plan, thirty-eight public transit routes would be set. These routes would join the Olympic venues. 2,500 large-size buses as well as 4,500 minibuses would be provided.
