Trampoline Gymnastics at 2008 Summer Games: Trampoline gymnastics in a part of the gymnastics schedule at the international level. In the event, gymnasts perform acrobatic movements jumping on a trampoline. The event developed in the early twentieth century. The gymnastics event at the international level is governed by the Federation Internationale de Gymnastique or the FIG.
Trampoline Gymnastics in the Summer Games: Trampoline gymnastics fro both men and women were introduced to the Olympic schedule during the 2000 Sydney Summer Games. In the Olympic gymnastics program, two trampolining events are held. The events are-
Categories of Trampoline Gymnastics: Based on the competition format and the number of participants ion the competition, trampoline gymnastics can be divided in the following categories-
- Individual trampoline gymnastics
- Synchronized trampoline gymnastics
- Team trampoline gymnastics
Rules of Trampoline Gymnastics: The Federation Internationale de Gymnastique or the FIG is the organization, which sets rules for the Trampoline gymnastics at the international level. Some of the rules followed during the international competition, are-
- The number of gymnasts in each gymnastics event is predetermined by the FIG.
- The trampoline gymnastics program should include numerous acrobatic movements, which are prescribed by the FIG.
- A trampolining routine should be started and finished on feet.
- The three basic shapes, in which the gymnasts can perform during the competition, are specified by the FIG.
- The size and shape of the trampolines used during the competition are specified by the FIG. the regular size of the trampoline is 14 feet long and 7 feet wide.
- A number of judges are appointed during the competition to monitor the performances by the gymnasts.
- The gymnasts are given points on the basis of their performances. The gymnast with the highest point wins the competition.
- The minimum age of the participants is specified by the FIG.
- The official competition attire is only permitted during the competition. any other dress is prohibited.
Medal winners in Trampoline Gymnastics: Yuri Nikitin, Alexander Moskalenko, Henrik Stehlik, Mathieu Turgeon, Ji Wallace, Yasuhiro Ueyama, Alexander Rusakov and David Martin are some of the famous trampoline gymnasts of the world.
Anna Dogonadze, Karen Cockburn, Huang Shanshan, Irina Karavaeva, Oksana Tsyhuleva, Natalia Chernova and Olena Movchan are some of the leading female trampoline gymnasts at the international level.
