Paralympic Games, London 2012

London has finally said Goodbye to 2012 Paralympics Games, which started on August 29, with a mesmerizing closing ceremony, also known as 'Festival of the Flame', on Spetember 9 at 7.30PM at the Olympic Park - Olympic Stadium. After 11 days, around 4200 athletes, who participated in this Paralympics Games from different nations, came together to enjoy the closing ceremony. Flag Bearers of various countries came along with their respective athletes for the Parade.

Coldplay, a British band which consists of the members named Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion, took the center of stage and presented a LIVE concert by performing on the 15 songs and made a memorable evening for the athletes and spectators. Coldplay, had been coordinating with Kim Gavin, Artistic Director and Misty Buckley, the designer of Paralympics Games Closing Ceremony, in order to provide pleasure to all who had come in the Closing Ceremony and the band succeeded as all the people out there enjoyed a lot.

At the end of the Closing Ceremony, the handover to Rio 2016 was given, that in turn, denotes that the countdown has begun to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Also the Paralympic Flame was blown out which signifies that the London 2012 Paralympics Games has come to an end.

Summer Paralympics - 2012 London
The fifteenth Paralympics are scheduled from 29th August to 9th September in London after the Summer Olympics which are commencing on 27th July and culminating on 12th August. London will be hosting the Paralympics for the first time even though it has hosted

Olympics before as the first time the event was held in Rome 1960 after the last time London had hosted Summer Olympics (1948) .London Olympic Stadium is the main venue for the 2012 summer Paralympics where the opening and ceremony would take place.

2012 Summer Paralympics Mascot : The mascots Wenlock and Mandeville for 2012 Summer Olympics and Paralympics were revieled on the same day 19th May 2010

Paralympics is one of the most popular tournaments of the world, involving people with physical disabilities. This tournament is organized by the IOC or the International Olympic Committee and has a large number of physically challenged people participating in it. The history of the Paralympics goes back to the years after the end of the Second World War. In the year 1948, a sports competition involving World War II soldiers with spinal cord injuries, was organized in Stoke Mandeville in England by Sir Ludwig Guttmann.

The competition organized by Sir Guttmann gradually developed and culminated into the Paralympics Games of the present days. A large number of athletes and players from different countries of the world participate in these games. The number of participant countries is on a rise and from 23 in 1960, it had touched as many as 136 in the year 2004. Some of the major sports, which have been included in the Paralympic Games, are as follows:
