The games were officially opened by Rudolf Kirchschlager. The athletes uttered the Olympic oath led by Werner Delle-Karth. The judges' oath was taken under leadership of Willy Kostinger . In the stadium the Olympic Flame was lit by Christl Haas and Josef Feistmantl . Austria was the first country to host the Winter Summer Games twice.
