The games were officially opened by Mika Spiljak. The athletes uttered the Olympic oath led by Bojan Krizaj. The judges took the Olympic oath led by Dragan Perovic . In the stadium the Olympic Flame was lit by Sandra Dubravcic . It was the first Winter Games to be held in a socialist country.
