Career: Jackie Joyner-Kersee was a 3world class athlete in the 100 meter hurdles and 200 meter event. However she is mostly known as an expert in heptathlon. Joyner-Kersee was the first woman to score 7000 points in a heptathlon event. She is considered to be one of the greatest heptathletes of all time. Joyner-Kersee is the world record holder in the heptathlon event. She also holds her long jump record with a height of 7.49 meter. This height is second on the all time long jump list. Joyner-Kersee participated in the 1984 Los Angeles, 1988 Seoul, 1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta Summer Games . in the Olympics competition, she won two Gold medals and one Silver medal in the heptathlon event. In the long jump event, Joyner-Kersee won one Gold medal and one bronze medal.

Performance at the Olympics: Jackie Joyner-Kersee had her first appearance at the Olympics in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics . In the Games, she competed in heptathlon and long jump events. In the long jump competition, Joyner finished in the fifth place. However she won Silver medal in the heptathlon event. In the 1988 Seoul Summer Games , Joyner-Kersee won Gold medal in the heptathlon event beating the existing world record by 76 points. in the long jump event, she won the second Gold medal of the Games. Joyner-Kersee won the Olympic heptathlon title for the second time in the 1992 Barcelona Summer Games . Joyner-Kersee appeared at the Olympics for the last time at the age of 34. She competed only in the long jump event in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics . In the competition, Joyner won bronze medal in the event.
