Description of the Qingdao International Sailing Centre : The Qingdao International Sailing Centre is being built for the 2008 Summer Games . The centre is being constructed at the site of the Beihai Shipyard by Qingdao's Fushan Bay . Ground was broken for the centre on 25 th May in 2004 . The whole project includes the Land Area , the Harbor section and the Off-shore section . The administration and competition management centre, the press centre, the athletes' centre, the logistic and functional centre, and other facilities will be constructed on the Land Area . The Harbor and Off-Shore sections will consist of the major and secondary breakwater, an embankment, a quay featuring the Olympic Memorial Wall, and the renovation of the shore wall . The Qingdao International Sailing Centre is due to be completed in 2008 .
Area of the Qingdao International Sailing Centre : The Qingdao International Sailing Centre will cover an area of 45 hectares (450,000 square meters) . Two thirds of the area covered by the marina will be utilized for the competitions .
