Volleyball —Olympics: Volleyball is a sport involving two teams separated by a high net. In volleyball , players hit the ball with their hands , arms or sometimes with other parts of their bodies. There are six players in a volleyball team . Each team is allowed to hit thrice to get the ball over the net. Volleyball is a very active game , which helps in the improvement of the players' hand-eye coordination.

Volleyball in the Summer Games: Indoor volleyball was introduced to the Summer Games' schedule in 1964. Since then, it has been a regular event in the Summer Games . Two competitions are held in the Olympics volleyball program —a men's volleyball competition and a women's volleyball competition.

Volleyball at the 2008 Summer Games: At the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing, China , the finals of the volleyball events will be held from 9 th to 24 th August. The finals are scheduled on 23 rd and 24 th August. The volleyball events will take place at the Beijing Institute of Technology Gymnasium, Beijing Institute of Technology in the Haidian District. 2 gold medals will be given away in the Olympic volleyball competition.

Italy and Russia have been dominating the men's volleyball competition in the Summer Games. On the other hand, the leading countries in the field of women's volleyball in the Olympics are Cuba, China and Russia.
