The Laoshan Velodrome : The Laoshan Velodrome is a cycling Velodrome in Beijing . The Velodrome is currently under construction for the 2008 Summer Games . During the Olympics , track cycling events will be held in this Velodrome .
Location of the Laoshan Velodrome : The Laoshan Velodrome is located at Laoshan in the Shijingshan District in the western part of Beijing. The 5th Ring , a speedy road is situated to the west of the Velodrome . Some important travel destinations in Shijingshan District are Bajiao Amusement Park or Beijing Shijingshan Amusement Park , Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery and Fahai Temple . Sheji Hotel, Shuang Long hotel, Beijing Xijiao Hotel, Beijing Xishan Cuiyuan Mountain Villa and Jinjiang Inn are some hotels near the Laoshan Velodrome in the Shijingshan district.
Description of the Laoshan Velodrome : Olympic Grounds and Stadiums and National Team Training Facilities Construction Management Office of the General Administration of Sports are in charge of the construction of the Laoshan Cycling Velodrome . Design of the Velodrome was made by Schuermann Architects . The project is located in west of the newly selected land of the Chinese Cycling and Fencing Administration Center of the General Administration of Sports . After the Summer Games , the Laoshan Velodrome will be used for international and national cycling competitions and training . Laoshan Cycling Field and other facilities in the center will be used for various recreation services for public such as body shaping, leisure, recreation and catering services . The construction has been started in October 2004 . The Velodrome is scheduled to be completed on June 30, 2007 .
Area and Capacity of the Laoshan Velodrome : The total land surface covered by the Laoshan Cycling Velodrome will be 32,920 square meters. The Velodrome consists of a 250 meter oval shaped cycling track . The capacity of the Laoshan Velodrome will be of 6,000 spectators during the Summer Games . After the Beijing Summer Games , the seating capacity at the Velodrome may be reduced to 3,500.
