Beijing Airport

Beijing Airport is the principal point of entry by air into the People's Republic of China. The IATA code of the airport is PEK. The formal name of Beijing airport is Beijing Capital International Airport.

Beijing airport commenced commercial operations from 1958. The airport is the first civilian airport in the Chinese mainland. The present structure of Beijing Capital International Airport consists of 2 terminals. The 2 terminals are known as Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Terminal 1 is used for handling domestic flight services. A few international flights also arrive and depart from Terminal 1. International flights arrive and depart from Terminal 2. A new airport flight hub- Terminal 3 is under construction.

The Beijing Capital International Airport is the central hub of a number of Chinese domestic commercial passenger aviation companies. The list of notable airlines include regional aviation service providers like China Southern Airlines, Air China and Hainan Airlines. The airport is regarded as one of the busiest in the world. International passengers may transit through Beijing airport for other Chinese destinations like Hong Kong and Macau. Regular flights to Taiwan are also available from Beijing Capital International Airport. There are direct flights to Beijing airport from a number of European and North American destinations. A superb network of flights from other Asian countries to Beijing airport also exist.
