Tennis is one of the most popular sports. It is played and enjoyed by millions. This interesting sport dates back to the middle ages in France or Ancient Greece. It is said that King Henry VIII could play tennis quite well. The equipments that are required to play tennis are ball, racquet and a net. There are four types of matches played - men's single, women’s single, men’s doubles and women’s doubles. Tennis is played between two people in a singles match. While playing doubles, there are two players on each side of the net.
Tennis was a part of the Olympic sports since 1896. After the Paris Summer Games in 1924, it was dropped out. It again regained its place during the Seoul Summer Games that was held in 1988. Since then Tennis has been regarded as an official Olympic sport.
