Marathon 10km (Men) is a comparatively new swimming event that has become a part of the Summer Games. The event is also included in the Beijing Summer Games 2008. The marathon race is conducted in large water bodies in open waters. A distance of 10 kilometers has to be covered by the contestants. Approximately about two hours is required to cover the distance. The 10km (Men) Marathon is an interesting event and attracts several proficient and confident swimmers.
Marathon 10km (Men) in Beijing Summer Games 2008 is sure to attract numerous swimmers as well as viewers. Rules have been laid that from a particular nation; only two marathon swimmers can be qualified per event. There are about 25 marathon swimmers, who can be qualified from the trials from all over the world.
There are certain rules and regulations by, which marathon swimmers have to abide by. The use of wet suits is forbidden as that increases the buoyancy and proportionally the speed of the swimmer. Dutch swimmers are very efficient and talented marathon swimmers.
The swimming events in the Beijing Summer Games 2008 shall commence from 9th August and will continue till 21st August. The extravaganza will last for a period of 16 days. Most of the events except the marathon events will be held in the Beijing National Aquatics Center.
