Archery

The archery competitions date back to the medieval times. The equipments which are used in the game of archery at Olympics include the arm-guard, arrow, bow, bowstring, chest-guard, finger tab or the shooting glove, fletching, hand grid of handle, quiver, nock, stabilizer, sight and the target.

Archery was first included in the summer Olympics in the year 1900. In all the four games of archery, it is very much possible for the archers to compete for more than one medal. The first player to win the gold medal in the game of archery in Olympics was the much famed Hubert van Innis belonging to Belgium. The sports of archery was reintroduced into the Olympics schedule in the year 1972, with a modification that there are going to be two separate competitions for the men and the women.

In the 29th Olympics archery games in Beijing are going to take place on the 9th, 10th, 11th, 14th and the 15th of August. A total of four matches of archery in 2008 Summer Games are going to be held. The game of archery is going to be held at the Olympic Green archery Field at Beijing. There are going to be two gold medalists at the 2008 Summer Games, one in the category of men and another in the women's section.

One of the most promising nations at the archery games in Olympics include that of Korea with the famous players being Kyo-Moon and Yong-Ho.
