Aquatics Swimming

Aquatics swimming of the 2008 Beijing Summer Games will cover a large number of events under it. The events will be held at the Beijing National Aquatics Centre. But the Marathon Swimming will be held in other cities of China.

Aquatics swimming of Beijing Summer Games, 2008 will follow the usual 4 strokes. This includes:

  • Freestyle
  • Butterfly
  • Breaststroke
  • Backstroke

    The freestyle race will have 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500 meters. 800 meters freestyle is meant only for women and the 1500 meters is meant for men only. The various sub categories of 2008 Beijing Summer Games Aquatics swimming are given below:

    Category for Men:
  • 100m:backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle
  • 1500m freestyle
  • 200m: backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle and individual medley
  • 400m: freestyle and individual medley
  • 4x100m: freestyle relay and medley relay
  • 4x200m freestyle relay
  • 50m freestyle
  • marathon 10km Category for Female:
  • 100m: backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle
  • 200m: backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle and individual medley
  • 400m: freestyle and individual medley
  • 4x100m: freestyle relay and medley relay
  • 4x200m freestyle relay
