50m Freestyle (Women)

50m Freestyle (Women) is one of the most spectacular swimming events. It has won the huge public attention since its inception in the modern Summer Games. The international swimming events take place in pools of 50 m length. The event of 50m Freestyle (Women) is one of the swiftest swimming events. The slightest of concentration lack of the swimmer can result in the loss of a medal for the contestant. The swimmers need to jump in the pool when the starter fires a gun. In the event of Freestyle (Women) 50m, competitors need to be attentive from the staring point. The delay of a fraction of a second to start the race can cost the medal for the swimmer.

Since the introduction of (Women) 50m Freestyle in the summer Olympics, many swimmers have represented their countries in this particular event. The dominating countries in this format of event are US, China, Netherlands, and Australia. In the 2004 Athens Olympics, Inge de Bruijn of Netherlands won the gold medal in 50m Freestyle (Women). Malia Metella of France and Libby Lenton of Australia won the silver and bronze medals respectively.

In the 2008 Beijing Summer Games, the heat rounds of 50m Freestyle (Women) are scheduled to be held in the evening session on 15th August. The final round will be held on 16th August in the morning session.
