4x100m Freestyle Relay (Women)

The event of 4x100m Freestyle Relay (Women) is one of the most popular swimming events. From the start of this event till the end, the spectators can hardly wink their eyes in excitement. 4x100m Freestyle Relay (Women) is a team event and the weakness of any swimmer can cause loss to the team. So, in this particular event, the 4 best swimmers of the country take part. The swimming events are held in 50 m pool. Every swimmer in (Women) 4x100m Freestyle Relay event has to make 2 rounds of the pool. Once one swimmer completes the 2 rounds, the next swimmer starts her action. The swimmers should be alert to jump in the water only after her previous partner touches the finishing point. If, by any chance, the swimmer jumps before her partner reaches the finishing point, the entire team will be disqualified. In the competition of (Women) Freestyle Relay of 4x100m, it is up to the swimmer to take the stroke of dog paddle, front crawl or sidestroke. Any of the strokes is allowed for the event.

The 4x100m Relay Freestyle (Women) is one of the oldest events of Summer Olympics. This event has been an event of the Olympics since 1912. The US swimming team has been the dominant one in this event. They have bagged the gold for 14 times in Olympics.

In the 2008 Beijing Summer Games, 4x100m Freestyle Relay (Women) heat rounds are scheduled to be held in the evening session on 9th August. The final will take place in the morning session on 10th August.
