In the competition of (Women) Freestyle Relay of 4x100m, it is up to the swimmer to take the stroke of dog paddle, front crawl or sidestroke. Any of the strokes is allowed for the event.

In the 2008 Beijing Summer Games, 4x100m Freestyle Relay (Women) heat rounds are scheduled to be held in the evening session on 9th August. The final will take place in the morning session on 10th August.
