200m Breaststroke (Women) occupies an important position in the various swimming events that are held in the Olympics. It is also an integral part of the swimming events that will be held in the Beijing Summer Games 2008. Breaststroke is one of the most difficult forms of swimming. All the swimming events in the Olympics take place in a 50m swimming pool. Other forms of swimming also include backstroke, freestyle, butterfly and many more. 200m Breaststroke (Women) was first introduced in the Summer Games in the year 1924, when the Olympics were held in the French capital, Paris.
Beijing Summer Games 2008 also have various swimming events in its schedule. The events are scheduled from the 9th of August and will continue till 21st August, 2008. The swimming events will continue for a period of 16 days, where female swimmers from all parts of the world will exhibit their swimming talents. Except the swimming marathon, all the other swimming events will be held in the Beijing National Aquatics Center. Gold silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the first, second and third rank holders respectively.
Women-200m Breaststroke swimming event has attracted female swimmers since its inception. Mostly swimmers from the European nations were seen to participate in these swimming events. But gradually, swimmers from the Asian and African continent also began to participate in the swimming events in the Summer Games.
