TORINO 2006
Winter Olympics Medals Table

The Olympic Winter Games, are the cold-weather counterpart to the Summer Olympic Games. They feature winter sports held on ice or snow, such as ice skating and skiing.

The Winter Olympics are held every four years. Most recently, the 2002 Games were held in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. The Italian city of Turin (Torino) is currently hosting the Winter Olympics(2006). It is the second time Italy has hosted the Winter Olympic Games, after Cortina d'Ampezzo in 1956. The opening ceremonies for the Olympics are the last ones to be held outdoors for a Winter Olympics until at least the 2014 Winter Olympics because the ones for the 2010 Winter Olympics will be held indoors.
