THE PARADE OF THE PARTICIPANTS

In accordance with the Olympic Charter, the delegations parade in alphabetical order according to the language of the host country with the exception that Greece leads the parade and the last delegation in the parade is the host country. Each delegation is preceded by a name-board bearings its country's name and must be accompanied by its flag.

This tradition started from the IX Olympiad at Amsterdam in 1928.

In the Olympic Game in Athens, a bearer with the Greek flag will enter the Stadium in front of all other delegations, while the Greek team will conclude the parade of the participants.
