Haeju



Haeju is a city located in North Korea. Haeju is situated in the province of South Hwanghae. Haeju is located very near to the Haeju Bay. Haeju stands as the basic center of administration of the province of South Hwanghae. Haeju lies in between the longitudinal coordinates of 38o02’N to the latitudinal coordinates of 125o43’E.

Haeju
bears great importance since early times when in the 20th century, it stood as an important port in the Sino-Korean Trade. The economic status of Haeju is supported by the cement factory present there and a number of other enterprises which have their business related to chemicals. These factories add to the economy of the city in a significant way and these factories are the major source of income for many people residing in Haeju.

Haeju has even come to the forefront with two major personalities Kim Ku and An Jung-geun, who were known for their patriotism were born here in Haeju.

Haeju also has a number of tourist’s attraction. The temples, the forts add a historical charm to the city. Haeju Tarani Temple, Puyong Temple, Sohyonso Temple, Mountain Suyang Fort etc. are the some of the interesting spots which must be visited while on a trip to Haeju.

The natural tourist attractions present in Haeju are the Suyangsan Falls, the orchards which should not be missed while visiting Haeju.

Haeju is also known as an important center for education. Haeju University of Education stands unique as a knowledge center and attracts a large number of students every year.
