DMZ Korea is the abbreviated name of the Demilitarized Zone. The zone was set up after the completion of Korean War in 1953. It took place when the excessive agriculture and industrialization desolated both the North and South Korea.
As a result, this
DMZ Korean zone has currently become a major refuge for two of the world's most endangered birds including the white-naped and the red-crowned crane. Apart from this, Asiatic black bears and Chinese gorhals and egrets are definitely among the other rare species. There are over 20,0 00 migratory birds in this area.
In 1989 after the fall of the Berlin war the
DMZ Korea is probably the last remaining Cold War-style frontier across the globe, uprising with sensors, automatic artillery and tank traps.
The
DMZ Korea and its nearby Civilian Control Zone are exceptional having
- Coastal islands
- Valleys
- Fields for agriculture
- Wetlands
- Forests
- Estuaries
- Mountains
DMZ Korea is indeed a priority ecosystem. that divides the two Koreas and is probably the most heavily armed border in the world. On both side of its 248 km length around two million troops face each other and always get ready to go for war.
North Korea maintains a troop of around one million with its side of the frontier. It is said that if North Korean forces ever cross the DMZ the United States will be automatically at war. Though one of the world's major flash points, DMZ Korea has become a major tourist hub that has seen to be drawing the attention of hundreds and thousands of visitors all through the year.
