Officially speaking, North Korea is said to be a self-reliance State. The government of this country is organized as a dictatorship and Kim Il-sung is the founder of North Korea. He was the country's first and only president. In 1994 after his death he was not being replaced, instead he was given the designation of "Eternal President". The active position has been demolished in the memory of Kim Il-sung.
Though in most of the countries dictatorship has been abolished but still now North Korea Dictator has retained its power and has been working successfully. After the death of Kim Il, Kim Jong-il officially became the General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and the National Defense Commission's chairman on 8th October, 1997. In 1998, his Defense Commission position had been announced to be "the highest post of the state". Since then Kim has become North Korea's head of state. As Kim is not the president, he does not need to hold elections to maintain his legitimacy.
North Korea dictator, Kim Jong-il, has seen to be controlling his country with a great efficiency. Since his father's death he has been maintaining his dictatorial rule over the entire nation.
