North Korea has rich and varied collections of rare vegetations and plants, known as
Flora. For the topographical convolution, rainfall and temperature of the locality, North Korea has been the widened sources of the growth of rare floras in the region.
Research shows that the northern part of Korea is consisted with more than four thousand species of
vascular plants. In the highest altitudes of the country are found a series of uncommon Alpine plants where as the lowlands of west and central part of the country is the richest source of green vegetations and deciduous trees for the temperature around. The southern coast of northern Korea grows warm-temperate and ever green plants, thus it is clear that the flora types are dependent on the temperature widely.

Warm temperature is an ideal condition for growth of ever-green
floras in Korea. For the growth of warm temperature vegetation in North Korea the best temperature is 14 degree centigrade. Around seventy numbers of rare warm temperature floras are found in North Korea. To name a few floras of this place includes Bladhia villosa Thunb, Ligustrum japonica Koehne, Ficus pumila Linne, Biwa japonica etc.
In most part of
North Korea temperate vegetations are found except a few regions like the high landscapes of Mt. Hallasan on Chejudo Island. The temperate vegetations of North Korea include Salix gracilistyla Miq, Quercus serrata Thunb, japonica, Quercus aliena Blume etc.
Generally
cold temperature does not help growing
plants much. Yet
in northern Korea's highest peaks, some cold-temperature vegetations are found such as Abies nephrolepis Maxim, Juniperus chinensis Linne var, Thuja koraiensis Nakai etc.
