The Norfolk Island genealogy gives an overview of the different periods of settlements, who contributed to the island's culture. The island was first discovered by Captain Cook in 1774. Then in 1788 the island was inhabited by lieutenant Philip Gidley King with 22 people. Te second settlement was Captain R. Turton who settled down in the island with his people including convicts. Finally the island was surrendered to the Pitcairiners who inhabited the Norfolk Island.
The research center owns several books on Norfolk history, Pitcairn Island and also on the Bounty Mutineers, who are regarded to be the early settlers of Norfolk Island. Norfolk Island Research and Genealogy Centre can be contacted through their postal address.
