History of Vanguard
The Vanguard Media Limited owns the Vanguard newspaper. Mr. Sam Amuka-Pemu set up the company in 1983. It started business as owners and publishers of newspapers, journals, magazines, books and articles. Vanguard Media Limited began its process in 1984 with the launch of its first newspaper on June 9, 1984. It was the Sunday Vanguard, a thirty-two page weekly newspaper that went daily on the 15th of October 1984. The Weekend Vanguard and the Daily Vanguard was added to the agenda of the company in due course of its development. The Vanguard runs a set-up of 40 stations nationally with a profound attendance in the city of Abuja, the Federal Capital of Nigeria. It also runs successfully in most of the other state capitals of Nigeria.
