Onitsha

Onitsha is situated in Anambra state, and is one of the most important Nigeria cities in the south eastern part of the country. Onitsha Nigeria is located at the intersection of 6°10' North and 6°47' East. With a population of about 548600 people, it is one of the important Nigeria cities. English is the national language in this region, while the other languages commonly spoken are Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa.

Onitsha in Nigeria is located on the banks of Niger River near Enugu. Other nearby cities are Benin, Sapele, Warri and Aba. The distance of Onitsha from Enugu is about 82 kilometers, that from Benin is about 123 kilometers, Sapele is 126
kilometers, Warriand Aba is about 135 kilometers. The region receives heavy amount of rainfall and thus the climate remains more or less cool through out the year.

Chief commercial products grown in Onitsha are nuts, corns, fruits and vegetables. Other products which form an integral part of trade in Onitsha include tires, petroleum products, nails and bearings. They are largely manufactured in and around the area. The city has a great source of mineral water. For education, men and women get almost equal privilege with a teachers college in the city for women. Onitsha is also famous as it is the hometown for Obi, the popular Igbo leader.
