Ikeja was established by the Yoruba community and was mainly hunted for slaves. It was also a principal agricultural area with the thriving kola nuts.
With the passage of time, the city of Ikeja became an active center of commercial activities. Ikeja is home to three industrial estates like the Ikeja, Oregun and the Ogba. To add to these, there is the computer village, which shows the advancement of education in the field of electronics and technical education. The location of Ikeja is another added advantage, as it is located at the very center of Lagos.
