Aba

Aba is located at 7°35' longitude and 5°1' latitude in Nigeria. Aba is located in the south eastern part of Nigeria, and is one of the popular Nigeria Cities with a population of about 839000 people. Aba in Nigeria is a large town situated at the bank of River Aba.

Aba Nigeria is an important trade center in the whole of Nigeria. It produces palm oil and kernels in large quantity, which yields great finance for the country. Another significant industry is the processing of cola nuts. Other manufactures from Aba include shoes, beer, mineral water, soap, textiles and pharmaceuticals.

The industries in Aba grew mainly after the British colonization in the 1900s. The British had established a market town to carry on the trade of different products. During the British rule, the British had imposed high rates of taxes on trade and commerce. To protest against this raise of taxes, the women's war, was started in the name of “Aba Riot”. This war was a great step taken against the British rule.

The main language spoken by the people in Aba is Ibo. The markets in Aba are great attractions for the people living there as well as for the tourists visiting the city.
