The US/Nigerian partnership has helped in receiving grant for the Niger's Institute of Human Sciences Research or IRSH. The US Embassy organized a program on 28th September in the year of 2006 to mark the beginning of Ramadan. This effort was initiated to preserve Niger's Islamic patrimony. IRSH was granted a lump sum from the Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation in Niger in 2004. The grant aims at the preservation and maintenance of an endangered collection of Islamic manuscripts, which date from the 14th and 15th centuries. The Islamic manuscripts count an excess of 4000 in number. The grant helped further to equip the IRSH with computer equipments and software to digitize the documents.
The Niger Cultural centers have been opened for the general public view. The visitors have been requested to help the authority to preserve the cultural heritage of Niger.
