Corinto, a small town located on the pacific coast of Nicaragua, has a population of about 17000. The name Corinto has its origin from the Greek city named Corinth. It is located at the position of 12.4833/12°29' N Longitude and 87.1833/87°11' W Latitude.
Although the town is very poor, it is one of the largest Pacific ports that have both inland and maritime container terminals managing cargoes, containers, cars and liquids. The port and the railway system in Corinto promote the import and export business of South America. Coffee is a major beverage of Corinto people. The high quality coffee beans are produced and brewed strong or weak according to their tastes by the local people themselves.
The town, characterized by its serenity and tranquility, attracts a lot of tourists from all over the world. The unruffled waters of the pictorial beach are quite stunning, making it a perfect place for fun and relaxation after a hard day's work. Soaking in the sun on the peaceful isolated beach of Corinto, is a breath-taking experience for the visitors.
The town, earlier a place of political and social unrest, has turned out to be a popular location for the tourists not only because of its natural beauty but also due to the social security of the region. Shops and beautiful church buildings line the streets of Corinto. The church assemblies and the ministries are more into the rehabilitation work like upliftment of the poor and unemployed. Puerto Corinto organizes a few cultural events and celebrates a few religious festivals once in a year.
