Lake Nicaragua is a largest freshwater lake of Central America, which is situated in southwestern region of the country and is famous as the sweet sea. The length and width of Lake Nicaragua is estimated around 100 miles and 45 miles respectively. The depth is estimated around 84 feet. Nicaragua Lake was formed when the volcanic activities at this part of Pacific Ocean made the land rise forming the lake. Though it is a freshwater lake it contains saltwater fish like sharks and tuna, which have changes to adapt themselves in the new surrounding. The species of freshwater sharks could only be found in the whole world in this Lake of Nicaragua. Isla de Ometepe is the largest island of Lake Nicaragua where several small volcanoes arises from its ground.
