Nicaragua, as a country is gaining popularity among golf lovers. Nicaragua golf courses, though few in number promise international standards in golfing. Several golf course projects are in the pipeline in Nicaragua to meet the ever increasing demands of golf lovers in the country.
The Nejapa Golf and The Country Club, located in Managua are two of the best Nicaragua golf courses Nejapa Golf and the Country Club was established in January 1940. It derived its name from the Nejapa Lagoon. Originally, it started its operation from a chalet near the lagoon with a nine hole golf course and two tennis courts. In April 1957, they relocated more towards Managua covering 140 acres of sprawling greenery. A 18 hole golf course and two tennis courts were built in the new property. The Country Club building included a bar, a restaurant and bowling alley with four lanes. The Country Club's building was destroyed by the tremendous seismic tremor of 1972 and in1979 the golf course was further damaged in the military upheaval. This golf course, in Nicaragua today, has an 18 hole golf course,a driving range, chipping area, practice green and four tennis courts with floodlights. Enthusiast can avail golf carts, caddies, lessons a pro shop and a bag storage. Ricardo Lyon is the clubs golf pro. Other facilities offered by Nicaragua golf courses are the "19th hole bar", a sports bar, formal dinning room with a bar, meeting rooms, showers, lockers and a relaxing swimming pool.
The Iguana Golf and Beach Club has earned applauds from all quarters for its brilliant golf course. It is located on the Pacific coast.
