Typically the life of a Nicaragua woman is guided by the traditional Hispanic values, which put a great emphasis on female-headed households and demand increasing participation of the women in the labor forces. During Sandinista revolution a large number of women were accepted in public life, which spawned a national women's movement but the values and social customs regarding the relations between the sexes largely remain intact. As Nicaraguan women are expected to head the family, there was a rapid growth in the population of women in the labor forces. The economy of household is generally managed by a woman of Nicaragua. The women had predominated themselves in the field of personal services, petty commerce and low-wage sectors like garment industry. Uneducated peasant women are engaged in agricultural labor.
Nicaragua is developing country where gender issue is the prime concern of the nation and domestic violence is a regular scenario. But over the year woman in Nicaragua became conscious about their power. More and more number of Nicaragua women is torchbearers in the society and they try to assert this fact in the culture and tradition of the country.
The status of Nicaragua Woman is improving but still there is a long way ahead.
