Nicaragua Wedding is incomplete without the Mass. The people believe that the Mass gives blessing to the couples.
The guests are invited in the Church at the weddings in Nicaragua and they have to dip their hand in the Holy water. After this they have to make the indication of the Holy Cross before taking their seat. After some time the bride enters and stands besides the groom. The couple is greeted by the priest. An opening prayer by the priest begins the ceremony. The guests can kneel down or stand and follow the proceedings of the wedding. Passages from the Old and New Testaments are read out. A Gospel reading is also carried out in the weddings at Nicaragua.
After the reading of the passages a lecture is given which describes the rules and regulations of the marriage. The couple exchanges vows and the ring of the wedding is blessed by the priest before handing it to the groom. The groom places the ring on the bride's finger. The bride offers roses to the statue of Virgin Mary.
Prayer of Faithful is offered after the exchange of rings. The guests may offer wine and bread to the Altar. All the baptized Catholics participate in the Communion. After the wedding the couples are introduced by the priest.
The couples are greeted by a big applause before they leave the Church.
