Nicaragua laws as vested in their constitution offer the basic human rights to its citizens, the rights to equality, liberty and justice. Laws of Nicaragua are divided into three sections the executive, legislative and judicial. In accordance to the people's choice and the culture of the country, laws in Nicaragua are pretty stern in many matters of personal choice that the other countries take for granted. Nicaraguan Laws thus differ in many points with other countries.
Nicaragua is a country where the tribal chiefs have ruled for a long time depending on the traditional laws and customs. But with the coming of the Spaniards they were subjugated under the Spanish court. However with independence the Nicaraguans formed their own constitution on 9th of January 1987 to which amendments were added in 1995, 2000, and 2005. Nicaragua laws divided their governing machinery into three independent arms - judicial managed by the Supreme Court, the executive elected for a six year term is lead by the president, legislative has two factions - the loose coalition of fourteen parties known as the National Opposition Union and the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) lead by Daniel José Ortega Saavedra, who is serving his second term as president.
