Nicaragua Geography


According to Nicaragua Geography it is the largest republic of Central America. It is surrounded by Pacific Ocean on western, Costa Rica on the Southern, Honduras on the northern and Caribbean Sea on the eastern boarder. Nicaragua Geography comprises of a land covered with mountains, rivers, volcanoes and sea. The geographic regions of Nicaragua are mountainous Central region, Pacific lowlands and Atlantic lowlands. The climate is cooler in highland and tropical in lowland.

The Pacific Lowland of Nicaragua

The pacific lowland stretched from Gulf of Fonseca to Pacific border along the Costa Rica. Maribios mountain features 25 volcanic cones is the prominent range of mountain in this region. It predominately forms the backdrop of impressive beaches. This region is heavily populated as 27 % population of Nicaragua dwells in and around Managua. As the region is open plain, it is pollution free.

The Central Region of Nicaragua

Nicaragua Geography claims that this region is the most active ecological area as it features massive cloud forests. There are several coffee plantations in this region. It is an ideal ground for bird watchers with a number of birds to be seen like hummingbirds, goldfinches or magpies.

The Atlantic Lowland of Nicaragua

The Atlantic lowlands of Nicaragua is different from the other parts of the country. The temperature and humidity of the region are quite high. The tropical forests houses a great variety of birds like turkeys, toucans, parakeets, eagles, and macaws. Animal life comprises of ant-eaters, white-tailed deer, monkeys, and tapirs.

According to Nicaragua Geography it covers 129,494 square kilometers of land, which is divers in climates as well as terrains.
