Nepal Festivals are celebrated round the year in various parts of the country. These festivals cover one day to several days at a stretch. The longest and the biggest Festival of Nepal is the festival of Dashain. The time of celebration of this Nepal Festival is between the months of September to October. Dashain, among other festivals in Nepal, marks the end of the monsoon season.
Other major Nepal Festivals include Machhendranath, Swasthani Puja, Maghe Sankranti and Basanta Panchami which are celebrated in the months of January and February. The festivals of Nepal that are observed in the months of February and March are Maha Shivratri, Loshar and Fagu Purnima, those in the months of March and April are Chaitra Dashain and Ghode Jatra, in the months of April and May the festivals of Biska Jatra, New Year Day and Red Machhendranath are observed.
In the months of July till August, Gunia and Janai Purnima are enjoyed while in August and September, Gai Jatra, Krisnastami and Teej are celebrated. The festivals of Indra Jatra and Dasain are enjoyed in the months of September and October and the months of October till November are reserved for celebrating Mani Rimdu. The end of the year, that is, November and December are marked by the festivals of Balaa Chaturdashi and Bibah Panchami.
Among all the festivals at Nepal, those of Dasain and Tihar are of national importance. These Nepalese Festivals, whether big or small, definitely point out the rich cultural heritage of the country.
