Nepal Buddha is one of the most revered idols in Nepal. Buddhism is the second largest religion that is followed in the country. Though Hinduism is the most practiced religion in Nepal, Buddhism has gained prominence with few selected ethnic tribes and clans in Nepal. Gautama Buddha is the founder of Buddhism and the religion began to flourish in the country since then. Nepal Buddha can be distinctly seen in the various monasteries and pagodas that are symbolic of the Buddhist religion in Nepal. These monuments and architectural structures were built many years ago and speak of the rich cultural and religious heritage of Nepal. The preaching and sayings of Gautama Buddha have left an indelible impression on the minds of the people in Nepal, who are Buddhists by religion.
Buddhism in Nepal began to grow and develop more rapidly with Tibet’s influence. Tibet made a great impact on the people of Nepal and made them understand the teachings of Buddhism. Buddhism also got distributed into two main branches, based on different schools of thought. The two schools were that of Hinayana and Mahayana. The eight-fold path that was preached by Buddha is the main mantra on which the total Buddhist religion in Nepal thrives.
