Nepal Telecom is the largest and the most expansive telecom company in Nepal. Though it was a government organization initially, it was transformed into Public Limited Company in the year 2004. Nepal Telecom was the basic telephonic service provider to the country. With changing time, the company also started providing internet facilities, mobile phone services and many other telecommunication facilities to the customers.
Nepal Telecom has its main office in the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu. There are numerous branches and telephone exchanges spread all over the country. The telecom service provider provides ISDN, PSTN and leased-line services in Nepal. Nepal Telecom was the only telecommunications company that provided GSM services to customers, before the advent of Spice Nepal in the telecommunications market. Maximum of the telephone subscribers are customers of Nepal Telecom services.
Nepal Telecom has brought many offers and schemes for its customers. There are separate tariffs for phone and internet services. One can choose the scheme of one’s choice. The charges for internal as well as international calls have been reduced by Nepal Telecom to attract more number of customers.
The various services that the telecom company provides include Intelligent Network, ISDN, Access Network, GPRS, Web SMS, Mobile telephony, CDMA WLL/Mobile, MMS, DMA EV-DO 3G, Payphone and DDN. Apart from this basic telephone services and e-mail services are also provided by Nepal Telecom. Many new features and services are being launched by the company in the near future.
